SUSTAIN ST. TAMMANY

Welcome to Sustain St. Tammany. The parish’s first effort to bring together those who are concerned about the parish’s ability to sustain itself.

Sustain St. Tammany is a parish-wide network and forum where residents, businesses, and organizations can:

Voice concerns about development, waste, transportation, food security, housing, and other sustainability issues.

  1. Share resources and ideas — things like recycling programs, forest gardening, renewable energy, bike paths, and local shading/tree-planting initiatives.

  2. Coordinate efforts across cities in the parish so that Covington, Mandeville, Slidell, Abita, etc. grow on a more unified track rather than piecemeal.

  3. Engage democratic participation without bogging down in heavy formalities like Robert’s Rules, but still having transparent, fair decision-making among participants.

  4. Push parish-level projects — e.g., consulting firms for sustainable planning, circular economy partnerships between local businesses, or collective proposals for parish funding.

Guest Speakers. Lacy Ellzey. Alex Landry. Desire Line. Tim Gates. Sandra Slifer.

Audience Participation. Question and Answering. Voting (by raising hands). Voicing Concerns.
